How to Install a Stop and Waste Valve
Step 1: Cut the Pipe
The first step is to cut out a section of the cold water line to insert the mixing valve. Cut out a small section of both the cold and the hot water lines using a pipe cutter (Image 1).
Note: have a bucket ready to collect any water that is left in the pipes
Step 2: Install the T Fitting
Install the T fitting on the hot water pipe.
Use the torch and flux to solder it onto the existing hot water line.
Note: Take off the drain before soldering so the heat doesn’t melt the rubber gasket. After soldering, replace the drain.
Step 3: Attach the Stop and Waste Valves
Use the same soldering technique to attach the stop and waste valves onto the hot and cold supply lines.
Note: Make sure the arrow on the valve points in the direction the water flows.
Now you can turn on the main water supply again.
