Decorating the outside of your house for Halloween

September 29, 2009 at 11:49 am | Category: Remodeling Contractor

As I was getting ready for Halloween this year I was pulling out the decorations, and I realized that there was a lot of really old decorations that I knew would look really tacky in the front yard. So I put the old decorations in a bag to donate and stood outside my house to try to visualize how I could decorate my house without spending very much money and making my front yard look tacky. I thought of a few ideas, sat down, grabbed a pencil and wrote them down.

1.Of course every house needs jack-o- lanterns. But don’t just make one or two, make 4 or 5 or even more, and spread them around the front porch. But make sure you don’t put them too close to dry leaves or bushes. A good way to make jack-o-lanterns safer is to put battery powered lights in them instead of candles.

2.By getting a string of white Christmas lights and putting either orange, red or green bulbs on every 2 or 3 light, it will give your house more of that Halloween vibe.

3.Take some old close, tie a string around the end of the arms and legs and stuff them with leaves. Sit it in a chair and put a jack-o-lantern on top and you have a scare crow.

4.The last but not least touch up is spider webs. Get a bag of cotton balls and gently pull them apart until they start webbing like a spider web. Hang them up with tap in corners and on the edges of your house.

Halloween is a holiday that brings out your imagination. It’s the one time of the year that a person can put on a mask and be a mystery to everyone. So if you get to do it, why not put a costume on your house? Make your house a mystery to everyone else in the neighborhood. And have fun with it!
